Your research files stay on your device. There are no site accounts or cloud analysis uploads.
Effective draft: 19 October 2026. This describes the current release; future changes will update this page.
Research data and computation
RNA Atlas reads selected files in your browser and performs browser analyses locally. It does not upload expression matrices, project files or analysis results to a SolveEverything service. Some methods can download software packages from their named public repositories; those requests do not include your expression data.
RNA Atlas retains an optional native engine that you run on your own computer. Pairing and each transfer require an explicit action, review and consent. This is a local companion, not a SolveEverything cloud backend.
Local browser storage
RNA projects, retained source files, analysis history and preferences may be stored in IndexedDB, the origin-private file system and localStorage. They are specific to this browser and domain. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to open them. Clearing browser data can permanently remove them; export portable project backups first.
Toolkit trackers store records only in browser storage and provide JSON/CSV export, JSON import and delete controls. Storage may be blocked or full; failures are reported without requiring an account.
What the host receives
Serving any website requires the hosting provider to receive ordinary web requests, which can include an IP address, requested URL and browser headers. We do not add analytics, advertising, tracking cookies or a personal-data collection form. Hosting providers may process operational and security logs under their own policies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. The existing deployment is delivered through Sites until the owner completes migration to Cloudflare Pages.
URLs and external sources
Public-study catalogs and automatic PubMed/RePORTER searches are excluded. The Research Trend Explorer uses only counts you enter or upload. Source and documentation links open third-party sites with their own policies. Optional RNA runtime-package requests remain described above.
Ensembl annotation lookup in Tool 15
Only after you request a gene lookup, the Knockout Design viewer sends its gene symbol, species and transcript/protein IDs directly to the free Ensembl REST service. Ensembl also receives normal connection information. Sequence edits and consequence calculations stay in browser memory; no design is sent to Ensembl. Annotations are cached only for the current page session. A synthetic offline example makes no external request. The breeding handoff uses a same-origin URL fragment, which is not included in HTTP requests. Exported design/reference files remain under your control.
Your controls
Export RNA datasets using RNA Atlas → Import & projects → Export portable project. The export below contains this site’s saved toolkit records and localStorage preferences, including any saved personal reflections. Large RNA datasets need a separate portable project export. Delete removes local site entries, the RNA project database and retained source files in this browser after confirmation. Close other SolveEverything tabs first.
On this browser
RNA projects need a separate portable backup before deletion.
